Su Bong Zen Monastery provides Zen teaching and training through formal practice and together action in everyday life. Our community consists of lay students and monastics practicing together. The Zen center offers programs for beginners, precept students, residential training, novice and monastic training.
Formal practice consists of sitting and walking meditation, bowing, chanting and kong-an interviews. Programs are offered through daily practice, monthly and long-term retreats and events such as workshops and Dharma talks. Additional programs in work and volunteer training and community-building activities support our practice.
As per our usual practice, the Wednesday and Friday evening meditation sessions are open only to our precepts students and members (no registration is necessary). However, for all other activities such as sutra chanting ceremonies and group practice, all attendees are required to register beforehand for seating and logistical arrangements.
For details of our programs, please visit the Su Bong Zen Monastery events calendar.
For general information before participating in our formal practice, please refer to General Temple Rules and Guidelines.
Note: The Su Bong Zen Monastery reserves the right of final decision on the arrangements for all activities.
