Teaching excerpted from 2017 "Mind Remote Control" Dharma Talk ~ Myong Hae Sunim JDPS

Everybody wants to have rests.
For some people, they think sleeping would make them rest.
So anytime, whenever they have time, they just sleep, sleep, sleep...
For some people, eating is rest.
For some people watching movie is rest.
The problem is not the way you want to rest, the problem is you can’t keep it. You can’t sleep all the time, you can’t eat all the time, you can’t watch movies all the time.
So it means your chance to rest is very little.
Looking for something outside of yourself to help you rest is good, but it's not really practical.
If you can find a way to rest at anytime, anywhere, any place, then it's good!

Maybe some of you sitting on your cushion are thinking about food, lunch. Maybe you sit and you are already falling asleep.
And maybe you're sitting and watching your movie.
This is also okay but it doesn't make you rest.
But if you manage to come back to what you're doing right now, and you don't want to escape from what is happening right now, then you're able to rest.

Because when you do something you really enjoy, you don't want to escape from that. In this way, you are able to rest.

Here we do it very simply, just breathe in and breathe out. Actually, you're doing that all the time. If you don't do that you won't be here...!
This is the tool you have all the time, so if you know how to use it, it becomes your good support.
If you're using it from time to time, it's okay, but most of the time we just don't know how to use it.
